This office is responsible for Authorization/Finalization of Pension cases in respect of State Government Employees within its jurisdiction. Cases of Government Servants retiring from All India Services like Indian Administrative Services, Indian Police Service, Indian Forest Service etc., MLAs, MLCs and employees of non Government Schools and Colleges are also authorised.

Pension function comprises mainly authorization of Regular Pension, Family Pension, Commutation and Gratuities to the retired State Government employees, teaching and non-teaching staff of Non-Government aided schools and colleges, Non Government Aided Social Work Colleges in Maharashtra State, High Court Judges, and AIS officers. The retirement benefits are required to be authorized in a reasonable time of around 30 days from their date of receipt in this office. 

Besides authorization of such cases, Pension function also authorizes pensionery benefits to the pensioners retired from other states but desirous of drawing pension from the Treasuries falling under the jurisdiction of this office, on the basis of Special Seal Authorities received from the Accountants General of those states.  Pension  and leave salary contribution of the state government employees deputed on foreign service are also dealt with.

The Revised pensionery benefits are also authorized  in the event of the fixation of pay as per the recommendation of Pay Commissions, change in pay owing to grant of ACP benefits, One Step promotion for working in Tribal and Naxalite affected areas, grant of Advance Increment, change in qualifying service, etc. and also as per court orders.
 

Proactive steps:

  • It has always been an endeavour of this office to ensure timely finalization of pension cases and avoid hardship to the pensioner.
  • All the pension cases received during 2018-19 and 2019-20 (upto July 2019) have been finalized within target date of Citizen Charter resulting in 100% achievement.
  • Efficient and time bound redressal of grievances indicates our commitment for quick response and quality of service to pensioners.
  • Under the guidance of the HOD, DDO sensitizations have been carried out by arranging workshops, pension Adalats.
  • The entire process of Pension finalization has been automated. The System Automation Initiative (SAI) has resulted in faster and transparent disposal of pension cases.

Milestones:

  • Pension cases were done manually up to 14th April 1997.
  • Introduction of computerization for the first time in Fox-Pro environment w.e.f. 15th April 1997.
  • Switched over to SAI module (System Automation Initiative) under Oracle environment w.e.f. 01/04/2006.
  • GR was issued by the Government of Maharashtra on 2nd July 2015 for Online submission of Pension Cases w.e.f. 01.09.2015.
