The Office of the Accountant General, Mumbai was established on 1st May 1858 at the Old CGO Complex, New Marine Lines, Churchgate, Mumbai. Over more than 125 years, the auditing and accounting responsibilities of the Comptroller & Auditor General of India in relation to the State of Maharashtra expanded manifold and as of today the same are being managed by the following six offices of the Indian Audit & Accounts Department, each headed by a separate Accountant General/ Principal Accountant General.
