The Audit Report contains significant findings of audit of State Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in Assam for the year ended 31 March 2018. The instances mentioned in this Report are those which came to notice in earlier years but could not be reported in the previous Audit Report; instances relating to the period subsequent to 2017-18 have also been included, wherever necessary.
The Report contains in two Parts (power sector and other than power sector) along with an ‘Introduction’ on Functioning of PSUs.
Part I (power sector) includes an overview of functioning of power sector PSUs; one performance audit and 5 Compliance Audit Paragraphs relating to power sector PSUs.
Part II (other than power sector) includes an overview of the functioning of PSUs other than power sector; one performance audit and 3 Compliance Audit Paragraphs relating to PSUs other than power sector.
As on 31 March 2018, the State had 49 PSUs (33 working and 16 non-working PSUs). The 33 working PSUs registered a turnover of Rs 6,638.68 crore and earned an aggregate profit of Rs 371.71 crore for 2017-18, as per their latest finalised accounts as on 30 September 2018. This turnover was equal to 2.34 per cent of Gross State Domestic Product.
