ORIGIN OF THE OFFICE OF ACCOUNTANT GENERAL,PUNJAB

1947 Office of A.G (Punjab) was shifted from Lahore and was established at Shimla.

1.11.1966 On reorganization of states the office of A.G (Punjab) was renamed as office of A.G Punjab, Haryana, H.P, Chandigarh.

1.3.1984 The office of the Accountant General (A&E), Punjab came into existence on 1st March 1984 after restructuring of Indian Audit and Account Departement (IA&AD). Office of the Accountant General Punjab was bifurcated into distinct offices. Accountant General (Audit) Punjab and Accountant General (A&E) Punjab with separate cadres for respectively dealing with (A) Audit Work and (B) Accounting and Entitlement work.
