Ms. Madhumita Basu is an Indian Audit & Accounts Service Officer of 1988 batch. Born on 22 February, 1964 in a family of Civil Servants and Educationists,
She had her early education from the Lady Irwin Senior Secondary School, New Delhi and graduated with Honours in Economics from the Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. She then pursued a Master’s Degree in Economics at the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi and also pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (P.G.D.B.M).
In a distinguished career spanning over thirty-four years, the officer has served the Department and other Central Ministries/Departments on deputation basis in various capacities viz. DARPG (DS) and Ministry of Steel (CVO).
On her appointment as Dy. Comptroller and Auditor General, Ms. Madhumita Basu has assumed the charge of the post on 1st February, 2023. Currently, she is holding
the charge of Dy. Comptroller and Auditor General (Report States – Northern Region) since 1st February, 2023.
Her overseas assignments include External Audit Assignments at HABITAT, Nairobi; UNAVEM, Angola; WFP, Rome; and OCHA, UN Hqrs., New York.
Moreover, she has attended Overseas Training Programme for Records Management at RIPA, London, UK and AMDP at Wharton, UOP, Philadelphia, USA.
