Introduction

The Office of the Principal Director of Audit Railway, Kolkata have its branch office at East Central Railway, Hajipur under the Comptroller & Auditor General of India with Head Office at Kolkata, West Bengal. The Principal Director of Audit, Railway, Kolkata with its Branch at Hajipur responsible for a detailed test audit of all the various units of East Central Railway viz. Headquarters, Divisions, Traffic, Construction, Workshop, Stores and branch offices which are under the jurisdiction of General Manager,  East Central Railway to the extent as laid down in the Revised Audit Norms 2003, Railway Audit Manual and the Secret Memorandum of Instructions regarding the extent of Audit and in accordance with the orders issued from time to time by the Deputy comptroller & Auditor General of India (Railways).
    The Principal Director of Audit is in overall Administrative and supervisory charge of the office who is assisted by the Director and  Sr. Audit Officers. PDA is directly responsible to the Additional Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General of India (Railways) for the audit of receipt & expenditure relating to East Central Railway including Construction Organisation of E.C. Railway. The Principal Director of Audit directs, monitors and controls the activities of field units situated at over the East Central Railway.  He/She also has direct supervisory charge of Report & Internal Test Audit (ITA) section of this office.
