Introduction

The Indian Audit and Accounts Department is headed by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, whose duties, powers and conditions of services are prescribed by an Act of Parliament passed in 1971. The Office of the Principal Accountant General (AUDIT - I), Tamil Nadu, one of the field offices is headed by the Principal Accountant General, Tamil Nadu.

Principal Accountant General (AUDIT - I) is in-charge of audit of Accounts of the State Government and preparation of the Comptroller and Auditor General's Report on State Finances.

  • Administrative functions of the Office
  • Welfare Activities of the staff
  • Performance Audit and Reviews conducted by the office
  • Rendering assistance to State Public Accounts Committee & Committee on Public Undertakings during discussion of Audit Reports
