History

Prior to reorganisation of erstwhile State of Andhra Pradesh, O/o The Principal Accountant General (General & Social Sector Audit), Andhra Pradesh was the Cadre controlling authority for the IA&AD Civil Audit Offices i.e.,  O/o The Principal Accountant General (General & Social Sector Audit), Andhra Pradesh, O/o The Accountant General (Economic & Revenue Sector Audit), Andhra Pradesh and O/o The Principal Director of Audit (Central), Hyderabad.
 
Consequent upon reorganisation of erstwhile State of Andhra Pradesh in terms of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 and creation of a new State of Telangana with effect from 02.06.2014, O/o The Comptroller & Auditor General of India (C&AG) vide notification dated 21.04.2014 re-designated the Offices of the Principal Accountant General (General & Social Sector Audit) and Accountant General (Economic & Revenue Sector Audit) in the State of Andhra Pradesh as O/o PAG (G&SSA), Andhra Pradesh & Telangana and O/o The AG (E&RSA), Andhra Pradesh & Telangana.
 
Subsequently, O/o The C&AG of India vide notification dated 10.03.2017 in supersession of earlier notification Dt: 21.04.2014 re-organised the existing Offices of PAG (G&SSA) and AG (E&RSA), Andhra Pradesh & Telangana into Office of The Principal Accountant General (Audit), Andhra Pradesh and Office of The Principal Accountant General (Audit), Telangana. The re-organisation came into effect from 01st April 2017 and the Office of The Principal Accountant General (Audit), Andhra Pradesh continued to function from Hyderabad station.
               
Camp Office of The Principal Accountant General (Audit), Andhra Pradesh was established at Vijayawada with effect from 01st June 2017. Cadre of staff between the Offices of The PAG (Audit), Telangana and PAG (Audit), Andhra Pradesh had been bifurcated w.e.f 1st October, 2018.

Eventually, Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), Andhra Pradesh, which was functioning from Hyderabad and Vijayawada stations, got completely shifted to Vijayawada, and started functioning from Vijayawada since 1st July, 2021.
