The Director General of Audit (Oil & Gas), formerly known as the Director General of Commercial Audit, Mumbai, exercises jurisdiction over all Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Autonomous Bodies, Statutory Corporations, and grantee organizations under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). Its audits play a vital role in ensuring financial discipline, enhancing operational efficiency, and strengthening public trust in India’s petroleum and natural gas sector.

  • This Office was established in May 1986. The Central Office is located in Mumbai, with a Branch Office in New Delhi. The Director General is assisted by four Group Officers:

    • Two officers at Mumbai – Director (Oil) and Deputy Director (Headquarters)

    • Two officers at  Branch Office at New Delhi – Director (Oil) and Director.

The Director General exercises control, supervision, and monitoring over all activities of the Head Office and its Branch Office, ensuring effective coordination and oversight of audit functions.

The Central Office is situated on the 8th Floor, C-25, Audit Bhavan, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Near GST Office, Mumbai – 400 051.
