History

INTRODUCTION:

                     Office of Principal Director of Audit (Shipping) is established consequent upon restructuring of Central and State Audit Offices, (vide Hqrs notification dated 9.3.2020). Earlier known as Office of PDCA & Ex-Officio MAB-I was set up in 1969 was bifurcated in 1986 by creating MAB II office for the audit of Oil and Aviation sector. The office is located in 6thand 7th floor of Regional Training Institute Building, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. This office has three Resident Audit parties located in Mumbai and one each in Goa & Kandla. 
                    This office has been mainly conducting the audit of insurance and finance sector companies and autonomous bodies including the audit of four Major Port Trusts, Securities and Exchange Board of India and Khadi and Village Industries Commission. After restructuring in 2020 the Audit of Ministry of Shipping and its 4 departments are  also entrusted to this office.
