History

Consequent upon restructuring of Indian Audit and Accounts Department, the Principal Director of Audit (Central), Chandigarh came into existence from 2nd April, 2012.

The office of Principal Director of Audit (Central) stationed at Chandigarh headquarters deals with

• Indirect Tax audit of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Union Territories of Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
• Direct Tax Audit of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Union Territories of Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
• Central Expenditure Audit of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Union Territories of Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
