The Office of the Accountant General (A&E) – II, Madhya Pradesh, which is a part of the Audit and Accounts Department, functions under the Comptroller & Auditor General of India. In accordance with the Article 149 of the Constitution of India read with Section 10 of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (Duties, Powers & Conditions of Service) Act 1971, the Accountant General (A&E) II Madhya Pradesh Gwalior with its branch office at Bhopal is responsible for maintenance of General/Contributory Provident Fund Accounts of All India Service Officers and all the employees of the State Government of Madhya Pradesh.

This Office is also responsible for authorization of pensionary benefits to dignitaries like honourable Judges of High Court, All India Service Officers, Lokayukta, Members of State Public Service Commission, Divisional Accountants, Freedom Fighters and Ex-members of State Legislature and Compilation of State Pension Accounts.

The Office of the Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlements)-II, Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior came into existence in its present form in May-1985. It is housed in the Lekha Bhawan situated at Jhansi Road in Gwalior and a branch office at Arera Hills, Bhopal.

Major Functions of the Office:

1. Maintenance of GPF Accounts of State Government Employees:

This office caters for maintenance GPF Accounts of the employees of the Madhya Pradesh state government (Other than Group D employees). The span of job comprises of posting of credits and withdrawals in the individual ledger accounts of the subscriber. The office also issues annual GPF statements to the subscribers showing year-end balance at credit, posting of withdrawals and advances made by subscribers out of the Fund and adjustment of missing credits and debits. Further, calculation with authorization of annual interest in the accounts of individual subscribers and authorization of final payment cases of the subscribers on retirement or in case of death is also undertaken.

2.Maintenance of GPF accounts of All India Service Officers.

This office also performs the functions enumerated at point no 1 for All India Service Officers posted in Madhya Pradesh.

3.Verification of Pension claims and authorization of Pensionary Benefits:

This office caters for verification of pension claims relating to the following class of employees: -

  • All India Service officers posted in Madhya Pradesh
  • High court Judges.
  • MLAs
  • Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) detainees
  • Freedom Fighters
  • Pension Transfer cases from Madhya Pradesh to other states or vice-versa.
  • Residual work of old scheme pension cases.
  • Relief Orders
  • Lokayukta / Up-Lokayukta
