1. Organisation

The Office of the Principal Director of Audit, Central Expenditure (Agriculture, Food and Water Resources), Delhi is a field office of the Indian Audit & Accounts Department functioning under the administrative and constitutional authority of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

The office is responsible for conducting Financial, Compliance and Performance Audits of the Ministries, Departments, Attached and Subordinate Offices, Autonomous Bodies and other organisations relating to the Agriculture, Food and Water Resources sector of the Government of India in accordance with the Constitution of India, the Comptroller and Auditor General's (Duties, Powers and Conditions of Service) Act, 1971, applicable auditing standards, Government rules and instructions issued from time to time.

2. Objective

To promote transparency, accountability, economy, efficiency and effectiveness in the utilisation of public resources through independent, objective and professional audit.

3. Functions

  • Conduct Financial, Compliance and Performance Audits.
  • Audit the Ministries, Departments and organisations relating to Agriculture, Food and Water Resources.
  • Evaluate Government schemes, programmes and projects.
  • Assess financial management, internal controls and statutory compliance.
  • Prepare Audit Reports and Inspection Reports for submission to the competent authority.
  • Provide audit support to Parliamentary Committees and other competent authorities.
  • Perform such other duties as assigned by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
  • Maintain records and provide information in accordance with the Right to Information Act, 2005.

4. Duties

  • Planning and execution of audit programmes.
  • Ensuring quality, independence and timeliness of audit.
  • Processing audit findings and follow-up action.
  • Administration, establishment, human resource and records management.
  • Ensuring compliance with Government rules, financial regulations and instructions issued by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
  • Fulfilling obligations relating to proactive disclosure under the Right to Information Act, 2005.
