Office of the Director General of Audit, Central Railway is one of the offices of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department functioning under the control of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). It is one among the 17 Zonal Railway Audit Offices in India.  The Director General of Audit, Central Railway is responsible to the CAG of India in respect of Administrative matters and Audit through the Deputy/Additional Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General of India (DAI/ADAI) (Railways).  Office of the Director General of Audit, Central Railway, is responsible for conducting:

• audit of accounts of Central Railway (CR)

• supplementary audit of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL); and 

• supplementary audit of Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MRIDC)

and compiling the audit findings for inclusion in the Audit Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on the accounts of Indian Railways under Article 151 of the Constitution of India.

The audit of Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL), a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has been entrusted to this office during May 2012.

The audit of Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MRIDC) has been entrusted to this office November, 2018.
