Introduction of the office
Before establishment of the office of the Principal Director of Audit, Kuala Lumpur, the diplomatic missions, offices of Indian PSUs and other Government of India establishments in East Asia, South East Asia and Oceania region including Fiji and Papua New Guinea were audited from the Director General of Audit at New Delhi.
Office of the Principal Director of Audit, Kuala Lumpur started functioning from 11 November 2010, initially at the premises of the High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur. Since 22 February 2011, this office is functioning from a rented premise located at Suite 9-02, Level 9, Wisma E & C, Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Currently, tthe office has audit jurisdiction over 59 units spread across multiple countries. This includes 38 Indian Missions and Posts under the Ministry of External Affairs and 21 overseas units of Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs).
The CPSU entities under jurisdiction of this office primarily consist of overseas branches of New India Assurance Co. Ltd. (NIACL), as well as units of GIC Re Malaysia, Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL), and IRCON International Ltd., Malaysia.
