Right to information ACT 2005

This Area of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India 's Web Site is for dissiminating information as required in the Right to Information Act 2005.

The Information given here is in respect of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India's headquarters located at 10 Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi . Several field formations of the CAG of India already have their web sites (See state AsG websites) and are in the process of publishing such information as required by the Act. This web site can also be used to address queries to the state AsG who do not have their web sites as of now.

CAG has appointed Public Information Officers to assist in discharging the duties under this Act in the headquarter office and all the field offices.

The information in this area is for the purposes of dissimination under the Act. However, it is advisable to get it verified from the PIOs before use in any manner.  

1.       PROCEDURE OF FILING OF APPLICATION

          A person, who desires to obtain any information under this Act shall make a request in writing or through Electronic means in English or in Hindi accompanying such fee as mentioned in Procedure 3 below.

2.       FORMAT OF APPLICATION FORM

           The Applicant should clearly mention his/her Name & Address for Coreespondence, Telephone No.(Optional) and specific information which he/she wants if practicable with No. & Date etc.

3.       FEE

    a)   Fee may be made in Cash against proper receipt or by Banker’s Cheque/ Bank Draft/ Indian Postal Order in  favour of PAO, A.G(Audit), Delhi.  This is only in respect of the Office of CAG of India, New Delhi.  In case of information available with the other Accountants General offices in the States, the request along with the fee may be sent to the concerned PIO in the respective Accountants General Office.

   b)  Quantum of Fee :- A request for obtaining information under Sub-Section (1) of Section 6 shall be accompanied by an application fee of Rupees Ten by way as mentioned at a) above.

For providing the information under sub-section (1) of Section 7, the fee shall be charged at the following rates :-

i)   rupees two for each page created or copied(A-4 or A-3 size paper)

ii)  actual charge or cost price of a copy in larger size paper

iii)  actual cost or price for samples or models and

iv)  for inspection of records, no fee for the first hour, and a fee of rupees five for each subsequent hours.

4.       ARRANGEMENT OF RECEIPT FOR APPLICATION & FEE

Arrangement for receipt of Application & Fee has been made at the Reception Counter of CAG Office Main building. The Applicant can also remit the requisite fee as per Procedure at 3(a).

5.       APPEALS AND APPELLATE AUTHORITIES ETC. IF ANY

Appeals against the decision of CPIO/PIO can be made before the Appellate Authority as per section 19 (1) of RTI, Act 2005.  The Principal Director (staff) is the appellate authority for the Office of CAG of India, New Delhi and the Pr. Accountant General/ Accountant General/ Pr. Director of Audit/ Director General of Audit are the appellate authority for the respective PIOs in the Accountants General offices in the States.
